Where It All Began: The Journey to SAROYA

The dream that you see today on your screens didn’t happen overnight. It actually began over eleven years ago with ETHNIC KERALA, a small Facebook page born out of a pure love for the timeless elegance of unbleached cotton and traditional handlooms.

Like any true passion project, the road wasn't straight. In 2019, an attempt to revive the dream under the name NEELANJALI taught us invaluable lessons about craftsmanship, textiles, and the wonderful community of women who value authentic style.

Undeterred by the detours, the vision finally found its true form in 2025. That was the year SAROYA was born.

What’s in a Name?

When it came to naming this labor of love, we searched for something that carried weight, history, and deep personal meaning. It was my sister who suggested the perfect name, inspired by the primary anchor of our family and our greatest inspiration: our grandmother, Sarojini Amma.

The moment she said it, it stole my heart. SAROYA is more than just a brand name; it is a living tribute to her grace, her quiet strength, and the effortless way she carried herself in a traditional drape. We wanted to build a brand that honors that timeless, multigenerational elegance.
